Mary Kate

Mary Kate was born on August 30 at 7:43 p.m. She weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces and was twenty inches long. And she’s just beautiful.

But wait! What happened between the bell pepper false labor and the real thing? Well. It was another interesting story. We were waiting to go up to Gretchen’s until after a church event, because we were quite involved in that. Gretchen called us on that exact Sunday morning to say she was having contractions. But by this time we had to stay for the morning service. In the early afternoon we left…and the minutes dragged by, even though every minute we were getting closer to the baby that was now fast approaching.

Everyone thought that Mary Kate was going to be a boy– I mean everybody. However, believe it or not, an hour before we got the call that she had been born, I suddenly knew it was going to be a girl. As Mom was talking to Gretchen, before she said that it was a girl, I whispered back to Caleb, “It’s a girl! I’m sure of it!” Really, I’m not making it up. Just ask him.

We were so, so excited. We got to stop by around late that night to hold Kate for the first time. There are no words to describe an auntie’s love for her niece the first time she holds her. It’s absolutely amazing. And having two nieces is just the coolest thing ever.

So, so precious

Kate has the brightest, sweetest blue eyes

Have you ever seen anything cuter than a sleeping baby?
